Bahrain bowed to Japan 0-2 today in the third round of Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Daichi Kamada and Takefusa Kubo were both on target in the second half for the hosts at Saitama Stadium 2002.
The result marked the Bahrainis' third loss in seven games as they remained on six points in continental qualification’s Group C table. Japan improved to 19 points with their sixth win from their seven matches and they became the first team to officially book their berth, through qualifying, in next year’s FIFA World Cup.
Bahrain will be looking to bounce back when they return to action against Indonesia on Tuesday next week in Jakarta. The Japanese face Saudi Arabia that same day.
